In the last week, Reps. Tim Walz (MN) and Ron Kind (WI) became first time co-sponsors of the We the People Amendment (HJR 48), bringing the total number of co-sponsors up to 33. With five co-sponsors now pending, and dozens more pledged to co-sponsor our bill, it appears we will hit our 2017 strategic goal of 35 co-sponsors in the House very soon.
Collectively, we're closing in our 2017 We the People Amendment sponsorship goal, while collectively faltering on our fundraising goal. To meet our budget priorities, we must raise $10,000 by the end of this quarter--in just three days. Please contribute $28 for the 28th Amendment, here.
After learning their representative signed on, Move to Amend St. Paul Affiliate leader Becky Lucas said,
"We've been seeking Rep. Walz's endorsement for over a year. Without the tools, resources, and assistance available to us from Move to Amend National, this never would have happened."
Everything Move to Amend does is about one thing: attaining authentic participatory democracy in the U.S. We remain focused on passing the We the People Amendment in order to level the playing field, remove the jackboot of corporate rule from the people's neck, and have our voices heard.
To meet our budget priorities, we must raise $10,000 by the end of this quarter--in just three days. Please contribute $28 for the 28th Amendment, here.
At the very time our nation is in uproar, Move to Amend is uniquely positioned to offer a path forward, a vision of a democratic future based on human rights not corporate profits. Our Campaign to Legalize Democracy is succeeding, whereas the more common and glorified employment schemes masquerading as non-profits get little done.
We're a grassroots organization with a very small, devoted and underpaid staff, and we accomplish a lot! From educating and lobbying public officials, to educating local communities and passing resolutions and ballot initiatives, we have always succeeded--alone or in coalition--all on a shoestring budget.
We're gaining ground quickly and our capacity must grow, too. The more immediate need is simply maintaining current capacity. To meet our budget priorities, we must raise $10,000 by the end of this quarter--in just three days. Please contribute $28 for the 28th Amendment, here.
A hearty "Thank you!" to Reps. Walz and Kind!
Well done, Move to Amend affiliates and supporters in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Thanks for your patience and persistence!
On behalf of We the People, we salute Rep. Rick Nolan for his leadership!
