The AMIBA is a non-profit organization helping communities design and implement programs to support independent locally-owned businesses and prevent their displacement by absentee-owned corporations. As of 2016, AMIBA supports 85 community alliances across 40 U.S. states, representing about 26,000 businesses.
The Court's illegitimate creation of constitutional "rights" for corporations undermines genuine market competition. Large corporations have converted their economic power into political favors that extract subsidies from taxpayers, stifle enforcement of anti-trust laws, create legal tax evasion opportunities, and other government actions that harm small business.
AMIBA supports amending the Constitution to make clear the Bill of Rights protects living beings exclusively. See http://bit.ly/amibavs for more on the small business and community rights-based arguments against corporate personhood.
