Brecksville Citizens Submit Signatures for MTA Amendment Issue on Fall Ballot

July 26, 2012

Congratulations to Move to Amend supporters in Brecksville!

Yesterday, they turned in 1145 signatures (collected in just about 2 weeks) on a citizen initiative petition calling on their city to call on Congress to pass a constitutional amendment to end "corporate personhood" and "money equals speech."

The initiative also calls for a city-sponsored "Democracy Day" every February following a federal election where citizens can testify at a public hearing on the political impact of money from corporations, unions, PACs and Super PACs.

The goal was 1100 signatures collected. If a little more than 700 signatures are valid, the citizen initiative will appear on the ballot this November.

Way to go Brecksville!
