City Councilman declines to mention MTA in the MTA Resolution

Benj Thomas

Ukiah City Councilman Benj Thomas wrote a Resolution in support of MEASURE F, the citizen's initiative to amend the Constitution placed on the November ballot by the Move to Amend Coalition of Mendocino County.  The Resolution composed by Councilman Thomas mentioned our 80 volunteers and the 5661 signatures we collected, but failed to make any mention of Move to Amend.  This resolution was continued from 9/19/12 and now will be considered on Wednesday, October 3, 2012.

Move to Amend - Ukiah also submitted a resolution based on the MTA resolution template.  When asked to reconsider using the MTA - Ukiah Resolution instead, or at least mention MTA in the Resolution Councilman Thomas replied that, after some discussion, he and Councilman Baldwin agreed it had a better chance of passing if it wasn't affiliated with a nationwide movement.  He wants to keep it rooted in local concerns.

Then he thanked us for our good work.
