City Opinion Question

Salt Lake City residents will have the first opportunity ever to participate in a city-wide referendum this September 9-27th! This referendum, called the "City Opinion Question," will state adamantly that "Only human beings, not corporations, are endowed with constitutional rights,” and “Money is not speech and therefore regulating political contributions and spending is not equivalent to limiting political speech.” The opinion question is a new democratic tool that will allow SLC to join the 350 other U.S. cities which oppose the corporate domination of the nation's political agenda. On September 9th, Salt Lake voters will be mailed the ballot for the City Opinion Question, a new means of officially assessing public opinions on critical issues. The ballot will need to be returned (or postmarked) to the City Recorder's office by September 27th at 5pm to be counted. Residents will need to be registered at their current address to receive a ballot. For more information, visit:
