CLEVELAND HEIGHTS MOVE TO AMEND MONTHLY MEETING
Thursday, January 10 / 7:00 pm
Ensemble Theatre (located in former Coventry School), 2843 Washington Blvd
Happy New Year! 2013 is the year!
With your help, Cleveland Heights voters will decide this November whether or not to call on Congress to pass a constitutional amendment to declare that only human beings, not corporations, possess constitutional rights and that political money is not equivalent to political speech and, thus, can be regulated.
The 3 key words above are "with your help!" Needed are 5000 signatures by July. If everyone can just collect 20-30 signatures, we'll collect what we need.
Join us this Thursday to:
- Plan our petitioning campaign.
Martin Luther King Day is around the corner. We hope to petition at the Heights celebration program – focusing on the corporate perversion of the 14th Amendment. (A short educational will be presented on how corporations have coopted the 14th Amendment to stifle local governments from protecting their communities.) We'll also discuss other wintertime petitioning opportunities. Petitions will also be available at the meeting.
- Plan for producing a play, "The Prosecution of Judge Waite."
This is a short play describing how corporations first won never-intended constitutional rights. One of the main characters, Supreme Court Justice Morrison Waite, was from Ohio!
Join us this Thursday as we plan to petition and produce a play!
