Corvallis Votes YES For Democracy

CAMTA Measure 02-81 Campaign Sign
November 7, 2012

Corvallis, Oregon voters overwhelmingly approved the citizens advisory question measure 02-81 on the November 2012 ballot.

By a solid margin of over 3-to-1, voters called on their elected officials to convey the need for an amendment to the U.S. Constitution which states that corporations and other artificial entities are not to be afforded the constitutional rights guaranteed living human beings and that money is not considered speech.

Similar measures passed by huge margins in Lincoln County, Eugene and Ashland, Oregon.  And nationally, over 100 communities, counties and states passed related measures.

Corvallis Area Move to Amend (CAMTA) will continue to build the movement in the mid-Willamette Valley and, having already joined with six other Move to Amend affiliates in Oregon, will urge the Oregon state legislature to pass a joint resolution (memorial) next spring during the 2013 legislative session.
