Democracy activist speaks in Doylestown in November

October 12, 2017

DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH — A spokesperson for a national democracy advocacy group will speak at the Doylestown Friends Meeting at 95 E. Oakland Ave. in Doylestown Borough from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Greg Coleridge, outreach co-director for Move to Amend, will host a community forum on "Creating an Authentic, Participatory Democracy." The program will be part history lesson, part call to action for attendees to become more involved in the fight to overturn the Supreme Court's 2010 Citizens United decision. Move to Amend was formed to abolish the idea of corporate personhood affirmed by the decision.

"Corporate personhood" commonly refers to court-created precedent that gives corporations constitutional rights intended solely for human beings.
