Think there’s too much money in politics?
Does it seem that corporations have too much power in our community, state and nation?
"Democracy Day" public hearings are opportunities for members of the public to testify before city council members on the impact of corporate rule/rights and big money in elections on policies affecting health care, neighborhoods, food, the climate, clean air/water, education, economic development, privacy, transportation, social services...and just about everything else, including our basic right to self-determination/democracy.
Testimony is summarized and sent to federal and state elected officials along with notification that voters passed a citizen initiative in S. Euclid calling on Congress to pass a constitutional amendment to end "corporate personhood" and money defined as "free speech."
Whether you wish to speak or just to listen, please plan to attend. The public hearings are additional ways to pressure for passage of the We the People Amendment, H.J.R.48
It’s y(our) democracy!
p.s. Similar "Democracy Day" Public Hearings have been held already in 2019 in Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, Brecksville, Defiance, Toledo, Mentor and Chagrin Falls. Upcoming additional hearings will take place in Shaker Heights, Newburgh Heights and Kent.
