SEATTLE, WA: Building a Democracy Movement: It's Up to US!

Saturday, October 12, 2019 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Seattle Labor Temple
2800 1st Ave
98121 Seattle , WA

Join organizations, activists and other interested individuals at a collaborative event to inspire and encourage movement building among activist groups and leaders involved with the multitude of justice and environmental issues we are facing.

Corporate power and the disproportionate influence of big money continue to trump human rights, the rights of community leaders to protect the health, safety and welfare of their residents and even the inalienable rights of our natural ecosystem to be preserved. The time has come to build together a comprehensive democracy movement that addresses this fundamental roadblock.

We will have representatives from local and national organizations speaking about how their work is affected by corporate rule and big money in politics, as well as what they are doing to overcome it. We will also have time for small group discussion to encourage a deeper look at what needs to be done and how we can work together in a broader movement.

For too long, too many of us and the organizations we work with have been on the social action defense often working alone -- responding, resisting and reacting to the political, economic, social and environmental horrors of corporate and big money interests. We are forever opposing one or more of what seems like an exponentially expanding number of assaults on people, places and the planet.

This event seeks to unify the voices of those seeking justice and organizing on the frontline of the struggle to establish true democracy, one that has never existed before.  A successful people’s movement needs activists working on all fronts. Please join with us to engage in this critical conversation.
