We The People Amendment in the Senate: An Update!

Move to Amend national director Kaitlin and wonderful volunteer named Fran just got back from Washington D.C. where they met with Senators to lobby support for the We The People Amendment. Senators have never been more interested in supporting an amendment declaring that money is not speech and corporations are not people!

As you know, the Senate plays by a different set of rules compared to the House of Representatives where HJR 48 currently has 52 cosponsors—well above our original goal of 45 for this year.

Virtually every Senator we met with expressed support but were hesitant to take the lead. We need YOUR help giving that extra push. Senators listen and respond to their constituents most since you are the ones who vote them into office in the first place.

PLEASE take a few moments to contact your Senator and let them know you and 446,000 others support amending the Constitution to end corporate rule!

All it takes is a few clicks to send a message to your legislator!!!

Send a quick message to your Representative!

Send a quick message to your Senator!

Here's what else you can do to make this happen:

We give our heart-felt thanks to all the democracy champions who have co-sponsored the We the People Amendment! Share your appreciation by sending them a thank you message!

Barnstorming in 2018!

In the tradition of the mighty Populist Movement, Move to Amend's experienced and acclaimed speakers will continue their tours around the country in 2018, spreading the word about the campaign to amend the Constitution and inspiring action!

Our speakers give rousing talks, telling the story of the American creation myth and the Constitution as it pertains to Corporate Personhood and illegitimate but legal corporate constitutional rights, followed by about an hour of facilitated discussion/Q&A.

Move to Amend's Barnstorming Tours educate, inspire action, and identify local organizers to start Move to Amend Affiliate groups. These events are free and open to the public thanks to donations!

You can stay in the loop as we update our touring schedule by going to the Barnstorming page on our website. This is also where you can request a speaker to come to your town!

Tear Down That Wall!

Have you noticed just about every issue of concern, that you donate your time and money to, always hits a corporate brick wall?

Are you tired of corporations having a louder voice than you have? Are you frustrated that every time you watch the news, another company has poisoned another river? Do you feel like your representatives spend all their time chasing big corporate donors and little time working for your best interests? You can do something about it!

No single action would enable progress in more issue arenas than passing the "We The People Amendment."

Not sure how to begin?

Join our next Take Action Webinar -- it's free!  If you want to start an affiliate, our next webinar on February 6 is for you. Beginning at 5pm PT/8pm ET, we explain how to start a local Move to Amend affiliate group. Register here.

There are lots of other ways to help. Join a national committeeHost a house party to view a documentary, or help coordinate one of our Barnstorming events.

Volunteer with your local Move to Amend affiliate, or start your own group. Help your community pass a resolution, or collect signatures on our petition. Let's build a movement that moves corporations out of the way of all the issues we care about.

Let's tear down that corporate rule wall. Volunteer today!

You're Invited to the National Leadership Summit

At our first Leadership Summit in 2016 we had a fantastic group of Move to Amend affiliate leaders who came together to celebrate the introduction of Move to Amend’s Ten Year Strategic Plan, to learn and share organizing and technical skills, and to network and build community.

We had a great  time -- we learned a lot, made strategy plans, deepened relationships, and had an extremely successful lobby day with sixty Move to Amend volunteers (most of whom had never lobbied before) storming the halls of Congress to lobby for the We The People Amendment!

It was incredible.

This year, we’re excited to open up the invitation to all of our supporters, so that we can include even more grassroots organizers and activists in this empowering weekend! Opportunities to build together in person are invaluable in this political climate.

This year's Leadership Summit will be held at Trinity Washington University, June 8-11Participants can stay and eat on campus right in Washington D.C. where we’re a close trip to Capitol Hill. We’ll host sessions for skills building, organizing strategy, lobby training, and so much more! We’ll host panels with movement leaders, plenaries, training sessions, and creative opportunities for  community building.

This year we’re offering an early bird special Anyone who registers for the Leadership Summit before March 1st will receive $45 off the cost of registration! Use the code EARLY when you check out. Click here to register!

We’ve worked hard to make the Leadership Summit affordable and accessible, with sliding scale pricing and a cost that is much less than most conferences. However, some are more able to pay than others, and we are happy to have some scholarship assistance available. Those who are able to pay more and sponsor someone else to come to the summit are greatly appreciated! See details on the registration page. Thank you!

See you in Washington, D.C.!
