Milwaukee County Might Have Second Chance at Move To Amend

On Thursday, a resolution was introduced by Milwaukee County Supervisor John Weishan that would put the Move to Amend referendum on the November ballot.  The resolution passed through committee today and will appear before the entire County Board on April 24th.

This is not the first go around for the Move to Amend referendum in Milwaukee County.

West Allis, Wisconsin Joins Call for Overturn of Citizens United

The conservative Milwaukee suburb of West Allis, Wisconsin yesterday became the most recent community to endorse a challenge to corporate personhood.

Republican Party primary voters in West Allis approved by 70% a resolution calling for an amendment to the US Constitution that would overturn the 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court.

West Allis group wants new limits on corporate election influence

West Allis - A petition drive in West Allis to limit corporate spending for issue ads to influence political campaigns was kicked off at the West Allis Library on Saturday.

The drive has 60 days to get 3,433 signatures, although the local group is aiming for 4,300 to be on the safe side, said James Ito, an organizer.

Citizens Rise Up Against "Citizens United"

I was speaking in Milwaukee the other night to a great group of peace activists, and in the question and answer period, we started talking about what could be done to change our foreign policy and bring about peace and social justice.

One thing I said we needed to do was to amend the Constitution to overturn the horrible Citizens United decision of 2010 that said corporations are persons, and corporations can spend unlimited funds to influence the outcome of an election.
