Thanks to thousands of generous folks, we met our fundraising goal for December!
This means we ended 2018 in the black and have the funds we need to start the year off strong.
I know we sent a lot of emails the past month. Our experience has shown this is necessary to meet our goals. I really wish we didn't have to.
The fact is that if everyone reading this email -- folks who haven't yet chipped in -- did so with a small monthly donation, we wouldn't need you send any fundraising appeals!
Wow, I would love that! I bet you would too. So please think about it.
Maybe it could be your New Years resolution: Do your part to keep Move to Amend and the fight for the 28th Amendment sustainable.
2018 brought a lot of hardships. But a lot of good happened too. We will build on the momentum:
Young people influenced politics and the culture in remarkable ways -- from taking on the gun industry and the NRA, to recharging the climate justice movement with brave words and actions demanding our leaders act to save the planet, to getting elected to Congress!
The new Congress that begins tomorrow has an unprecendented number of women, people of color, and progressives. These folks need our support and accountability to fight against the corporate politicians that are still in the majority; but it is hopeful that we have new leadership in the halls of Congress -- including Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal who is the new lead for our We the People Amendment.
A critical national discussion is happening that we've never seen before in the mainstream: a Green New Deal proposal is taking shape to address climate change. Will this proposal take into account the fact that corporate capitalism is the force responsible for climate chaos? Will it offer an opportunity to shift not just our policies but our economy as well -- to one that serves people and the planet's interest, not just a drive to maximize profit? We don't know, but we're excited to see the potential and help shape the answers.
- The labor movement is revitalizing with triumphant hotel workers' strikes, student strikes, and, in several red states, powerful teachers' strikes.
And we are still here! With you by our side we are ready to take on 2019!
Please join us next Tuesday, January 8 for our first Take Action Webinar of 2019. We will be sharing our action plans for the new year and how you can get involved in the Movement to Amend.
Yours for a 2019 filled with democracy and liberation,
P.S. Please join our Take Action Webinar on January 8 to find out our plans for 2019 and how you can get involved.
P.P.S. Don't forget, if we can grow our monthly sustainers to fully finance our operating costs, we won't need to launch desparate fundraising drives to make up shortfalls, please help make this reality by donating monthly in 2019! Thank you!!
