Hawaii Legislature Passes We the People Resolution

April 25, 2016

Today the Hawaii state legislature passed a strong "We the People" resolution, HCR 29.

The resolution reads in part:

"BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-eighth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2016, the Senate concurring, that Hawaii's congressional delegation is urged to propose and pass a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution clarifying that corporations are not people with constitutional rights, and that unlimited campaign spending is not free speech"

Mahalo to Councilwoman Karen Eoff who pushed it through the Hawaii County Council and HSAC, Rep. Nicole Lowen who got almost the entire State House to cosponsor the bill, and to all you who wrote support testimony.

Next stop Washington where we will meet with Tulsi Gabbard's staff to convince her to cosponsor HJR 48 which proposes the actual Constitutional Amendment.
