We’ve been “Hacked”!  Democracy has Crashed!

We update our phones and we update our computers. Isn't it about time we updated our founding document? Our country's most basic code has increasingly been interpreted to give corporations more and more of the rights that were originally intended for REAL people. We need a patch to tell the courts that CORPORATIONS are NOT PEOPLE - and that MONEY is NOT SPEECH. - Mary Klein, Minnesota Move to Amend

Fully Involved in an Organization Already?

If you already have a #1 issue--then make democracy #2.

How can you do that?
1) Connect the dots between your issue and the power of big corporations and wealthy power brokers.

2) Share information about Move to Amend with your members and ask them to sign the petition online or by Texting “SIGN” TO 707-656-4019

3) Put Move to Amend on the agenda from time to time so that new members are informed.
Invite someone from Minnesota Move to Amend State Network to speak to your group.  Email address: minnesota [at] movetoamend.org

4) As an organization, endorse the Minnesota Move to Amend resolution to demonstrate to elected officials the support for our bill.   Click for link to Resolution Form.

But if you are frustrated
by the obstacles to achieving success--
make democracy your #1 issue.

To get started email Becky Lucas at minnesota [at] movetoamend.org to match the right tasks with your energy, interests and skills.  Click Task List to help you find something that interests you or offer your ideas.

Expanding the MN Base by 10K

This announcement kicks off our “Expanding the MN Base by 10K” campaign to double our base in 2017.  Our base is the people who have signed the Move to Amend petition.  So we are reaching out to you; to everyone who receives this email to ask you to become engaged.

We have petition signers in every house district in our state.  Our “Expand the MN Base by 10K” challenge can be achieved if you can help us.  After all you are the one in your part of the state; many current volunteers are not.  About one-quarter of our base receives email so in order to double we need you to get 4 people in your area to sign the petition. This assumes everyone has read this email and is taking up the challenge.

Are you ready to talk to your friends and community members?  Still thinking about it?  Take the first step -

1) Print the petition form and talk about this issue with others.  You will find most people are equally concerned and don’t know what to do.  They are glad to hear that there is an organization doing something about it.

For a bigger challenge -

2) The first fifty people to each submit 50 signatures or more will get a $10 gift certificate of their choice or $10 can be given to the organization of their choice in their name.  This contest ends November 30, 2017.

Now you have gotten others on board, they need to be added to the database and to recognize you for your efforts send the names to Becky Lucas.

3) Email the form to minnesota [at] movetoamend.org or if you prefer you can mail it to -

Becky Lucas
718 Arbogast St
Shoreview, MN 55126

On the way to amending the US Constitution, Move to Amend is putting life back into the dream of a democratic society--by building an unstoppable movement of people committed to the dignity of each and every person.

Capitol Tours: It’s not a Tourist Tour

Ken Pentel, Ecology Democracy Network, regularly holds MN Capitol tours that give the Capitol a whole new meaning.  His tours are not about the buildings but about how the work here gets done. You’ll learn the basics of the legislative process.

His usual schedule is from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM beginning with a meeting in the Minnesota Department of Transportation Building Cafeteria, 395 John Ireland Blvd, St Paul, MN 55155.  Buy your own lunch and join him.

For a map - http://mn.gov/admin/assets/transportation.01_tcm36-209333.pdf

Ken will first provide a brief overview of the Network, the Genuine Progress Indicator and Proportional Representation. Since the renovated Capitol building is not open, you will then walk through the other government buildings and meet a variety of people to learn how they help serve we the people.

RSVP directly to Ken at kenpentel [at] yahoo.com if you are interested.
