June Affiliate Meeting

June 18, 2014

Hello Everybody, I just want to remind everybody that the St. Louis Move To Amend Affiliate will meet this Wednesday (6-18) at the University City Public Library at 7:00 P.M. in the upstairs meeting room.  The Address is 6701 Delmar Blvd., in University City 63130. All members and interested parties are welcome.
At the meeting we will discuss what we have been doing and what we will be doing this summer.  We recently partnered with food action advocates at the March Against Monsanto, in an attempt to bring public attention to a very obvious example of corporate overreach. In the process we picked up over 100 new supporters for the We The People Amendment. We of course want to develop this alliance and others with all citizen's action groups that share our core values and who are acting in the public good. In fact I have been invited to attend their meeting, but it is on exactly the same date and time as ours, so if anyone wants to volunteer to represent MTA St. Louis at that meeting please contact me as soon as possible.

Other items on the agenda will be the showing of the documentary Citizen Koch, it will be at Webster U niversity on Saturday and Sunday (6-21 & 6-22) and should be a great opportunity for outreach. We will be tabling before the movie and need volunteers.  Also Rick La Monica is in the process of organizing a presentation on voter suppression, that is tentatively scheduled for a affiliate meeting soon, however I believe at this point it is more likely to happen in July, he may welcome some volunteer assistance on this project.
I will again bring packets of petitions that include MTA literature and self addressed stamped envelopes for return of the completed petitions.  We will talk a little about the theory of viral democracy; (finally something viral that will be good for us). On that note I would like to thank Steve and Marlene for the completed petitions they have submitted. I would also like to thank Cindy and Allen for their help at the march.
Hope to see as many of you as possible at the meeting, if we exceed the the capacity of the room we will take a vote on what to do. Remember Democracy IS NOT a spectator sport, summer is here so let's get out in the street and PAY IT FORWARD!

If you have questions feel free to contact me.
