Lakes Area MTA Once in a Decade Celebration

January 21, 2020

If you think that big money is spoiling American politics
and  that SCOTUS’ Citizens United decision was harmful to democracy

YOU ARE INVITED
to a once-in-a-decade celebration of once-in-a-century importance!
Join Lakes Area Move to Amend at Sage on Laurel, Brainerd at 5:00pm, Jan 21
10 yrs after the court decision and birth of Move to Amend we will celebrate
progress toward adding the “We the People” amendment to the Constitution.

WE WILL HEAR
stories about excessive corporate power
commitments from conservative and liberal incumbents and challengers.
Pete Stauber, Quinn Nyquist, Amy Klobuchar & Tina Smith are invited
as well as state MN legislators and candidates

A PETITION WORDED
“We the People of the United States of America, reject the Supreme Court’s ‘Citizens United’ ruling and other related cases, and move to amend the Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.”
has been signed by 472,000 citizens nationally and nearly 13,000 in Minnesota.
67 US House Reps are amendment co-sponsors.  It will soon be introduced in the Senate.
A bill  introduced in MN’s legislature supports “We the People”.  20 states have already acted.
A CENTURY ago courts began referring to corporations as persons.  A DECADE ago SCOTUS said financial entities are “persons” free to spend any amount to influence elections, create laws and shape public policy.

THE RESULT HAS BEEN PSEUDO-DEMOCRATIC.
Piles of money, not ideas and values determine many governmental decisions.
CORPORATE PERSONHOOD must end and We the People-HUMAN BEINGS-must assume control.

MOVE TO MEND IS ON THE MOVE!
Come, celebrate, learn and help make “We the People” part of the Constitution.
BRING  OTHERS CONCERNED ABOUT MONEY-IN-POLITICS .
