The Unitarian Universalist congregation in Venice has endorsed Move To Amend and they mean it! Last month, Kindra Muntz pulled together a fantastic conference in Venice. Participants arrived from all over Southwest Florida. Arlene Sweeting and Diane Desenberg of the Manasota Move To Amend team were both presenters. During the conference, participants had a chance to get together in small groups to discuss what they could do locally to help defend our democracy.

Starting in April at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, our Manasota Move to Amend Affiliate will host a series of Constitutional Seminars following our business meeting on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm.

Tuesday, April 11 - Seminar I - Declaration of Independence, US Constitution, and selected Federalist Papers focusing on the popular vote and the electoral college

Tuesday May 9 - Seminar II - US Constitution, Bill of Rights and selected Federalist Papers focusing on Freedom and Human Rights with brief selections from Voltaire, John Locke, and Aristotle.

June 13 - Seminar III - US Constitution, selected Federalist papers, and selected SCOTUS decisions focusing on the role of the Judiciary.
If possible, we would like participants to commit to all three seminars. Participants need to read the selected readings before the seminar. The format will be informal with a brief initial introduction, and an opening question followed by free discussion directed to some extent by Seminar leader(s), following the format of St John's College Annapolis/Santa Fe whose alumni will lead and participate.

RSVP to sarasota [at] (subject: Sign%20Me%20up%20for%20the%20Constitution%20Seminars)  to confirm your participation.
