The presentation comes just days after the Supreme Court’s landmark McCutcheon vs. the FEC decision in which aggregate limits on campaign spending were eliminated for individual donors.

In his presentation, entitled “Challenging Corporate Power & Creating Democracy”, co-founder and spokesperson David Cobb, will speak on corporate personhood and the controversial issue of corporate constitutional rights, followed by a facilitated discussion. The goal of Move to Amend's Barnstorming Tours is to educate, inspire action, and identify local organizers to start Move to Amend Affiliate groups.

“Move To Amend is getting larger, stronger and better organized every day. I am excited to be coming to Kansas City to meet with folks on the prairie who are committed to making the U.S. the functioning democratic Republic it is supposed to be,” said Cobb.

Groups co-sponsoring the presentation include the Sierra Club, the National Lawyers Guild of KC, Physicians for a National Health Program – Missouri, MainStream Coalition, the Greens of KC, KKFI 90.1 FM, PeaceWorks-KC, Johnson County MoveOn, True Blue Women and Building a Sustainable Earth Community, among others.

KC Move to Amend and the UMKC Economics Club will present Move To Amend co-founder and spokesperson David Cobb on his national “Barnstorming Tour” Tues., April 22 at 7 pm at Pierson Auditorium, UMKC, 5100 Rockhill Rd, Kansas City, MO.
