Newburgh Hts. Council Votes to Place MTA Ordinance on Fall Ballot

July 26, 2012

The Council of the Village of Newburgh Heights voted unanimously on July 17 to place on the ballot this November an Ordinance asking voters to:

1. Call on Congress to pass a constitutional amendment to end corporate personhood and money as speech.
2. Require the Mayor and Council to hold an annual public hearing to study the impact on local elections of political spending by corporations.
3. Force any SuperPAC making expenditures targeting any official or issue in the Village to force disclosure of their contributors.

Thanks goes to Newburgh Heights Mayor Trevor Elkins for taking the lead in overseeing the development of the Ordinance and getting it passed by Council.
