Prescott Area Move to Amend

Date Established:

June 2012

This is the page for the Move to Amend affiliate for Prescott,

Yavapai County, and Northern Arizona.

If the material on this National Move To Amend website (click on any of the headings across the top of the page to go there) interests you and/or you would like to participate in some of the local projects listed below, please contact us.
Our leadership team meets on the second Tuesday of each month to celebrate our progress, discuss strategies, and make plans.  On the fourth Wednesday we meet at a restaurant for drinks and stimulating discussion.  Click on the ANNOUNCEMENTS tab above or scroll down this page to find out details.
Some of our ongoing projects are:
  • Gathering signatures from people who endorse our amendment at public events on the downtown plaza, on college campuses, or wherever.  It is fun and energizing to engage with the public, who overwhelmingly support our cause.
  • Reaching out to like-minded local groups for endorsements and for creative collaboration in planning public activities.
  • Hosting forums on the fourth Wednesday of every month, featuring a speaker and/or video and spirited discussion.  These are held at a downtown restaurant at Happy Hour time.
  • Speaking to local clubs and associations.
  • Meeting with our elected representatives to lobby for our cause.

Dialogue Over Parade Incident Continues

July 13, 2017

Press coverage continues in the aftermath of an unfortunate event wherein Prescott Area Move To Amend was ousted from the local Fourth of July parade.  Our local affiliate was stunned when we were ejected from the parade at the last minute.  So we wrote the editor, and that was published (see next article below this one to read that letter).  The editor wrote a reply a couple days later in which he/she acknowledged the importance of the Move To Amend cause.  So, we thought that was that.

Dear Editor:

We of Prescott Area Move To Amend were thrilled to be approved for entry in the 2017 Prescott Frontier Days parade. So we were very disappointed when banned from the parade just a few minutes before the parade began.
