UPDATE: We collected a dozen signatures at the Bleak House open mike event Friday night and a few of us petitioned at the Holiday Parade on Saturday and collected over 100 signatures. We are now very close to topping 5,000 signatures.
We will be having an organizing meeting this Wednesday, November 19 at the downtown library(325 N. N. Main Street, Loolen Room) at 6:30. We will talk about upcoming outdoor events (which are chilling up) and venues for collecting signatures like Jobs and Family Services, local street front stores, libraries, and the seasonal events (outside Makers Mart on Nov 22, Fifth Third Field, which will be transformed into an ice rink this winter) for those hearty souls among us to continue with the outdoor petitioning.
We will also soon be kicking off a 30 Signatures in 30 Days initiative for right after Christmas to encourage supporters who haven't joined the ballot initiative effort or for those who have petitions but haven't completed them. We have had good recent success with getting to make short presentations in front of union groups, asking for endorsements, and getting petition signatures and will be sharing any 'lessons learned' for use in front of other audiences (e.g., church groups, service organizations, social clubs, political organizations etc.) our supporters may be able to connect us with.
If, as a local supporter of Move to Amend, you can arrange for us to make a short presentation to your group and ask for petition signatures, it would be extremely helpful! Just let us know by emailing toledo [at] movetoamend.org.
