Petitioning Help Needed in Brecksville

July 21, 2012

10:00 AM -  Noon (Saturday)

Gather at the home of Rose and Jack Petche for petitions and instructions

Address: 6607 Morningside Dr, Brecksville

Citizens of Brecksville have launched a citizen initiative campaign to end corporate rule and money as speech --- and they need our help! One thousand (1000) signatures are needed by July 25 to get this grassroots citizen initiative on the ballot this November! More than 700 signatures already have been collected. We need 400 more!

The Brecksville group has petitions, instructions, a list of talking points, walking lists of registered voters, and maps. RSVPs are needed to know how many petitions and materials to have. Can you help out? Even for two hours?

- Declares that only human beings, not corporations, are legal persons with constitutional rights and that money is not equivalent to speech, and therefore regulating political contributions and spending is not equivalent to limiting political speech.
- Designates a day in February following each federal election as "Democracy Day" with the Mayor and City Council sponsoring a public hearing to examine the impact of political contributions of corporations, unions, PACS and Super-PACS on the City. The public hearing must be publicized by the City. Anyone from the public can testify. Saturday

If this initiative makes the ballot, ending corporate personhood and money as speech will be issues discussed this fall during the all-important election season -- not only in Brecksville, but all over Cuyahoga County.

Join us. Thank you.
