Public Invited to Attend A Dramatic Reading of the Historical Play
The Prosecution of Judge Waite

featuring Gerald Walker, Esq. As The Prosecutor and
Gerald Patronite, Esq. As Judge Waite

MENTOR – U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice (and Toledo native) Morrison Waite is accused of
granting corporations “personhood” rights for the first time in US history in the 1886 Santa Clara County
vs. Southern Pacific Railroad case – long before the Citizens United vs. FEC decision of 2010. You’ll
learn how the Santa Clara decision perverted the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which was
intended to provide equal protection and due process rights solely to freed slaves. Santa Clara paved
the way for many other “corporate personhood” Supreme Court decisions. Join us to learn what you can
do to help create fair elections and real democracy in our nation.

The event is free and open to the public and will be held Monday, June 9 from 7 PM until 9
PM in the Woods Room (Upper Entrance), Mentor Civic Center, 8600 Munson Rd., Mentor,

Following the presentation, there will be refreshments and discussion along with an
explanation of the issue that will be on the Mentor ballot this November, and how it will affect
the citizens of Mentor. Upcoming Mentor Move To Amend events will also be presented.
