A rally against excessive money in politics will take place Saturday, Oct. 27, beginning at 1:30 pm at Gregory Park in Brainerd.
Brainerd Lakes Area Move to Amend volunteers sponsored the event to make their opinions regarding corporate power and democracy heard. All local national and state candidates were invited to share their ideas regarding big and dark money in politics, a news release stated.
Brainerd Lakes Area Move to Amend is an affiliate of a nationwide non-partisan effort to amend the U.S. Constitution to define "person" as humans only and state money is not a form of constitutionally protected speech.
The event begins at 1:30 p.m. with a gathering at the park and a march to historic Brainerd water tower. At 2:30 p.m., local candidates will speak on this issue.
