RECLAIM DEMOCRACY RALLY: MARKING THE 3RD ANNIVERSARY OF CITIZENS UNITED!
Friday, January 18 / 4:30 pm - 5:30pm
Federal Building, corner of Main and Market streets, Akron

The December 10th resolution by Akron City Council was a great step, but we're just getting started!  Let's create a "photo op" to make sure Akron doesn't forget the Citizen's United anniversary, thank City Council for their resolution, and call on surrounding communities and Summit County to pass resolutions!

Signs are not necessary, but some ideas for wording include:
    •    "Corporations are not People"
    •    "Legalize Democracy, End Corporate Rule"
    •     "End Corporate Personhood"
    •     "Money is not Speech"
    •     "Thank you Akron City Council!" for your resolution.

Most of all, Bring Yourself!

CALLS FOR LETTERS!

If you can't make the rally, never fear!  Just write a letter to the editor of the Beacon Journal.  See the Talking Points on the Move to Amend Website for ideas on what to write https://movetoamend.org/corporate-personhood-talking-points.

Be sure to remind the readers about the anniversary, and let them know about the Rally on the 18th (see above).  You might also let them know about other resolutions and ballot measures passed in Athens, Brecksville, Barberton, Oberlin, Newburgh Heights, and around the country.

Send emails without attachments to vop [at] thebeaconjournal.com. You must include your name, address and phone number to be considered for publication.

CONTACT YOUR COUNCIL PERSON!

And don't forget to contact your council representatives.  If you live in Akron, you can still contact your County Council representatives, both for your area and at-large  and let them know you expect them to take a stand against Citizens United and for our Democratic Rights!  You can find your Summit County Council Representative here:  http://www.co.summit.oh.us/countycouncil/index.php/council-members/your-...

If you live outside the city of Akron, contact your own council about passing a resolution in your community.

SEE YOU AT THE RALLY!
