I'm writing this evening with sad news.
Ilene Singer, dedicated Move to Amend Coordinator in Broward, Florida, passed away on Tuesday evening. We just found out today. Ilene worked tirelessly for Move to Amend and a number of progressive causes. In fact, our understanding is that when she passed she was at the office of her Mayor, lobbying for his support for Move to Amend.
I'm very sorry that I won't have an opportunity to meet this wonderful woman -- she was planning to attend the Leadership Summit.
Several members of our National Team have met her though, and know she was tireless, passionate, and unrelenting in her support for Move to Amend and the We the People Amendment. If you didn't have occasion to meet her in person, you surely know her name and voice, as she was present on almost all conference calls and webinars and always quick to chime in with ideas and questions.
Our condolences go out to her family and friends, including the rest of the Broward Move to Amend team. We thank them for letting us know about Ilene's passing.
Obituary and details about the memorial service can be found here, and we intend to memorialize Ilene at the Leadership Summit to honor her work for our cause.
