Two days before taxes are due, on Saturday, April 13, Sacramento’s Third Annual Tax March will take place at the California State Capitol from 10:00am to 12:00pm. This event is 100% volunteer led. Tax March Sacramento is building a movement to promote transparency and fight against corruption at all levels of government from our local communities up to and including the presidency.
Tax March Sacramento is a partner of the national Not One Penny coalition along with the national Tax March, Health Care Voter, MoveOn.org, AFT, Credo, Indivisible, Patriotic Millionaires and over fifty other progressive organizations. The Not One Penny Coalition believes that 'not one penny' of tax cuts should go to millionaires, billionaires, and wealthy corporations at the expense of social services of healthcare, education, and food security impacting working families across the country — particularly women-led households and communities of color.
This year, Tax March Sacramento partners with the Sacramento Chapter of Move to Amend. Tax injustice is rooted in the notion that corporate interests have too much power over all levels of our government via the unjust legal doctrines of corporate constitutional rights and money as protected free speech.
Thus Tax March Sacramento supports the We The People Amendment and “MOVE TO AMEND” the Constitution to state that only human beings have inalienable Constitutional rights and money is not speech. Learn more about the “We The People Amendment,” currently House Joint Resolution 48, at: https://movetoamend.org/amendment
The Tax March Sacramento event features three major components: A resource fair, a rally and a march. The event will start with a rally including speakers and performers.
