Two Ohio Communities Call for End to Corporate Personhood/Money as Speech

November 5, 2014

Voters overwhelmingly supported ordinances on Tuesday in Mentor (70%) and Chagrin Falls (66%) calling on Congress to enact a Constitutional Amendment declaring that only human beings, not corporations, are persons and political money is not equivalent to political speech.

Voters in both communities join those in Brecksville, Newburgh Heights, Defiance and Cleveland Heights in Ohio who previously passed ballot initiatives, as well as city councils in Athens, Oberlin, Fremont, Barberton, Lakewood, and S. Euclid that passed resolutions.

They join hundreds of other communities across the nation who are saying "Enough" to corporate rule and plutocracy.
