Move To Amend on Alexandria Resolution

September 7, 2013

Members of Northern Virginia MTA from Alexandria urge the city council to pass a resolution endorsing a constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United decision and state that corporations are not people and money is not speech.  This letter to the Alexandria News argues strongly that the council should pass the resolution because it is responsible for acting on our behalf on matters that affect our everyday lives and it is the elected body closest to the people.  When the council speaks, it is recognized nationally as representing the citizens of the city.

Money in Politics Hurts Us All–But There’s Hope

August 29, 2013

Northern Virginia Move To Amend member, Peg Willingham, wrote this column for the Falls Church (Virginia) News Press.  It discusses how unlimited money in politics, allowed by the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, hurts us all by threatening the cherished values of good government and the people’s participation in local decision-making.  But it shows that the movement to amend the Constitution and overturn Citizens United, led by Move To Amend, is growing every day and that we the people can indeed reclaim our democracy.  Thank you, Peg, this was terrific!

Northern Virginia Move To Amend in Falls Church News Press

February 14, 2013

Northern Virginia Move To Amend member, Bob Crowe, wrote this column for the Falls Church (Virginia) News Press.  It discusses the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, the concentrated economic power wielded by corporations and wealthy individuals that has captured our government, and how Move To Amend is working to remedy that situation by advocating for an amendment to the Constitution that would restore the rightful voices of the people.  It's a great article--congratulations, Bob!
