Volunteers Needed to Pass Kansas City Resolution

May 2, 2012

KC Move to Amend is joining with hundreds of groups across the country to advance resolutions through city councils in support of a constitutional amendment to abolish “corporate personhood” and the doctrine of “money equals speech.”  Kansas City, Missouri is the first focus of our campaign for local resolutions.  We need hundreds of volunteers to collect thousands of signatures!

We are calling on the Kansas City, Missouri, City Council to pass the following resolution during Resolutions Week June 11-15:

“RESOLVED, the People of Kansas City, Missouri, stand with communities across the country to defend democracy from the corrupting effects of undue corporate power by amending the United States Constitution to establish that:

1. Only human beings, not corporations, are endowed with constitutional rights and
2. Money is not speech, and therefore regulating political contributions and spending is not equivalent to limiting political speech.”

Our goal is to collect thousands of signatures by early June to present to the City Council.  Whether or not you are a Kansas City, MO resident, you can join KC area volunteers to collect signatures.  If you have a few hours of time or more, you can be part of the solution to end corporate rule of America!

Just print the petition from this link and ask people you know who live in KC, MO to sign it. Then you can send the fully or partially filled up petition to: KC-MTA  PO Box 481432, Kansas City, MO 64148 (address is on each petition).

To volunteer in teams with others, email Anne McGregor at amcgregormc2 [at] aol.com
KC MTA really appreciates all the help we have received and all the help we can get!!
