Will you be in Philadelphia during the Democratic Convention?

July 27, 2016
We are very pleased to say that Move To Amend will be at all three upcoming conventions of the Republican Party in Cleveland, the Democratic Party in Philadelphia, and the Green Party in Houston.

If you will be at any one of them, we strongly suggest/request you download a copy of the Move To Amend petition and ask people to join you and over 400,000 people (and growing) demanding a constitutional amendment to abolish the illegitimate court-created doctrines of "corporate constitutional rights" and "money equals speech." Here is a link to basic talking points and what to do with those petitions.

For those going to Philadelphia, we are pleased to advise that National Leadership Team members David Cobb, Daniel Lee, Jerome Scott and Egberto Willies will be there, along with our Grassroots Volunteer Coordinator Johannes Epke. Here is a list of the places where you can connect with us:

  • Saturday, July 23: We will be at The People's Convention being held at 9am at the Arch Street Meeting House, located at 320 Arch Street in Philadelphia. This event will be free and open to the public. Of special note -- Daniel Lee will be facilitating a table discussion during a "World Cafe" process, David Cobb will be speaking in support of the "We the People Amendment," and both will be doing a workshop.

  • Sunday, July 24: We will be petitioning at the "March for a Clean Energy Revolution" being organized by our friends at Food and Water Watch. This march will convene at 12pm at Philadelphia City Hall, located at 1401 John F. Kennedy Blvd, and go to Independence Hall. Later that afternoon, we will head over to a mass rally being held around 3pm at FDR Park, located at 1800 Pattison Ave to petition there. Look for us!

  • Monday, July 25: We will be petitioning at the "March for Our Lives" being organized by our friends at Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign (PPEHRC). This is the opening day of the Convention, and this march is likely to be big. lt will begin at 3pm on the south side of City Hall in Philadelphia, located at  1401 John F. Kennedy Blvd. We will march about 3 miles down Broad Street to the Wells Fargo Center. David Cobb is scheduled to speak at the rally following this march.

  • Tuesday, July 26: We will be co-hosting a series of informal strategy discussions about how to build a democracy movement. These sessions will last about 2 hours, and happen all day. They will be held at 1301 West Porter Street (Oregon Stop on Broad Street Line) where the first session will begin at 10am, and others will happen at 12pm2pm4pm and 6pm. For more information, please call David Cobb at 707-362-0333.

  • Wednesday, July 27: We will participate in multiple rallies and events during the day at FDR Park, located at 1800 Pattison Ave. There will likely be several ad hoc teach-ins happening, so please look for us! Later that evening, David Cobb and Jerome Scott will be speaking at the Socialist Convergence, being held at 5:30pm at 1501 Cherry Street

And if you can't come yourself, please consider making a donation to Move To Amend to help cover the costs of getting our organizers there. Remember, we don't sleep in fancy hotels. In fact, we will be bunking together in the home of a local Move To Amend organizer, Fran Regan. (Thanks, Fran)!  We don't share that so that you feel sorry for us, we say that so you will know your donation is literally going to pay for hard costs of transportation and materials.  So please do make an investment in non-violent revolution!
