May 14, 2014, Willits City Council passed a resolution calling on our legislators to call for an Amendment to the US Constitution to firmly establish that only human beings have the inalienable rights recognized in the Constitution, that money does not constitute speech and that political contributions can be regulated. The vote was 4 - 1.
Following on the resounding passage of Measure F by 75% in November 2012 (67% within the City of Willits) in which the voters called on our elected representatives to pass resolutions calling for an Amendment, Willits is the final city council to pass a resolution. The four incorporated cities in the County as well as the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors have all now passed resolutions calling for an amendment.
