Occupy Seattle's Get Money Out of Politics workgroup

The Get Money Out of Politics workgroup (GMOP for short) ran a successful campaign, including petitions and a major rally on the second anniversary of the Citizens United decision, to get the Seattle City Council to endorse a resolution calling on Congress to amend the Constitution to state that corporations are not people and money is not speech. GMOP is now working on a similar petition to the Washington state legislature, as well as both candidates for Governor, asking them to pass such a resolution next year. GMOP also holds educational workshops on the financialization of the economy, and has held protests outside fundraisers for both President Obama's and Governor Romney's campaigns. GMOP meet every Sunday at 5 PM on the second floor of the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.
