In the tradition of the mighty Populist Movement, Move to Amend's experienced and acclaimed speakers crisscrossed the country in 2013, spreading the word about the campaign to amend the constitution and inspiring action!
Our speakers give rousing one hour talks telling the story of the American creation myth and the Constitution as it pertains to Corporate Personhood and illegitimate but legal corporate constitutional rights, followed by about an hour of facilitated discussion / Q and A.
Goals this Year
- Get your state legislators to pledge support for the We the People Amendment and begin discussions about introducing Move to Amend model state legislation in 2014.
- Grow capacity and organizing skills of your group.
- Grow number of petition signatures and organizational endorsements from your community.
When the Supreme Court decided for corporations in the Citizens United v. FEC case, it elevated knowledge of the doctrine of "corporate personhood" to new heights. Hundreds of thousands of people now know what those words mean.
But as awful as Citizens United is, corporate personhood wasn't created with that case. Corporate Personhood was concocted by corporate lawyers 127 years ago.
