Together, two separate entities called Move to Amend and Democracy Unlimited do the work to carry out our mission of ending corporate rule and building a vibrant democracy that is genuinely accountable to the people, not corporate interests.
Although the work of the two organizations overlaps, some activities are done by one group and not the other. The primary distinction is with respect to lobbying activity. Move to Amend, an IRS 501(c)(4) entity, lobbies to advance Move to Amend's We the People Amendment.
Democracy Unlimited is an IRS 501(c)(3) organization. Accordingly, its ability to engage in lobbying is limited by federal law, but it may receive donations that are tax-deductible by the contributor. Democracy Unlimited administers the "Move to Amend Education Fund" to carry out most of the education activities related to building democracy and ending corporate rule.
You may make a contribution to Move to Amend, the Move to Amend Education Fund administered by Democracy Unlimited, or both. Only gifts to Democracy Unlimited are tax-deductible. Individuals who want to support Move to Amend's lobbying and legislative activities should make a contribution to Move to Amend, which will not be tax deductible.

WHY ARE MY RECURRING DONATIONS SHOWING UP ON MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENT AS "DEMOCRACY UNLIMITED"?
If you set up your recurring donation to Move to Amend before December 11, 2014:
Previously, Move to Amend was a project of Democracy Unlimited, but in December 2014, Move to Amend was formed as a separate and independent 501(c)4 organization, and the Democracy Unlimited project formerly known as Move to Amend became the Move to Amend Education Fund. Thus, recurring donors who started their donation subscription before the reorganization remain donors of the Democracy Unlimited project formerly known as Move to Amend.
If you set up your recurring donation after December 11, 2014:
Since that time, all donors who have opted for their recurring donations to be tax-deductible were signed up to donate to the Move to Amend Education Fund, which is a project of Democracy Unlimited, a 501(c)3 organization.
